Abstract

Aims: Infertility can cause social stigma and erode sexual self-esteem in women, highlighting the need to explore interventions like mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to address these challenges. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on infertility-related stigma and sexual self-esteem in infertile women.
Materials & Methods: This was a three-stage (pre-test, post-test, and follow-up) two-group (experimental and control) quasi-experimental study. To conduct the study, all infertile women referred to infertility treatment centers in Isfahan City in early 2023 were recruited using a convenience sampling method based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. A total of 40 participants were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n=20) or the control group (n=20). The sample group completed the Infertility-Related Stigma Questionnaire and the Sexual Self-Esteem Scale in three stages: Pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. The experimental group received an 8-session MBCT (one 90-minute session per week). Repeated measures ANOVA was used to analyze the results.
Findings: Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy significantly improved infertility-related stigma in the social withdrawal, family stigma, and public stigma dimensions (p<0.01). However, the intervention was not significantly effective in enhancing sexual self-esteem in infertile women.
Conclusion: Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy significantly reduces infertility-related stigma, specifically in the social withdrawal dimension.

Abstract

In giant magnetostrictive transducer, Young modulus of the core considerably alters with changing its magnetic level. Young modulus change in Terfenol-D core has the highest value. This effect, changes the resonance frequency and mode shapes of the transducer. This subject in Terfenol-D resonance transducer is studied in this paper. For this purpose, a resonance Terfenol-D transducer has been designed and fabricated. Node locations in the transducer are considered to add pre-load and bias mechanisms. Effect of Young modulus change on resonance frequency and mode shape were studied both analytically and by ANSYS FEM software. Range of resonance frequency change in the first mode is 1000 Hz and in the second mode is 100 HZ. Mode shapes changes are limited for both modes. In 40kA/m magnetic field bias, Results from analytical and FEM simulation were verified with experimental results. Resonance frequency in this bias is 3100 Hz for the first mode and 8252 Hz for the second mode. Results have acceptable agreement with experimental results. Moreover, in this bias magnetic field, impedance responses between first and second modes are compared. Results show that selecting second mode is preferable for reducing disturbance of Young Modulus change on vibrational behavior.

Abstract

Following favourable agro-ecological conditions, powdery mildew becomes a destructive disease in wheat worldwide. Efficiency of the most common control methods (fungicide application and plant resistance) for wheat powdery mildew improves by using a better understanding of the effects of highly influential agronomic practices and weather factors on disease development. Disease severity was rated at plot scale according to a manageable number of agro-ecological variables in Kermanshah province, Iran in 2013 to 2017. Disease severity rating was varied by cultivar, disease-assessment date, and sowing time. Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA determined a high area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) based on disease severity rated in 2016. A greater AUDPC was detected for early disease onset than late onset. Later sowings had greater AUDPC values compared to earlier sowings. From Principal Component Analysis (PCA), four principal components accounted for 88% of data variance. From PCA-based regression analysis, earlier powdery mildew onset corresponded with further rainy days and higher wind speed in spring, later sowing and maturity, lower disease resistance, and warmer growing season of commercial wheat cultivars. The present findings recognized proper sowing time as effective as genotypic resistance for sustainable management of wheat powdery mildew and provided valuable information on cultivar, disease, maturation, sowing date, and weather interactions.

Abstract

The mechanical flow meter is a widely used tool in various industries such as the oil industry. A pair of oval gears is used in the mechanical flow meter. The most important issue in the oval gear is the lack of uniformity in the shape of its teeth. This lack of uniformity prevents the gears from interfering with each other, for this reason, similar to the circular gear, it is not possible to machine.  For the oval gear machining, tool design, or the use of the wire-cut method is required. As a result, it is necessary to know the profile of oval gear teeth. Therefore, in this article, the relations governing oval gears have been investigated. In these relationships, the number of teeth, geometric dimensions, and equations of motion have been investigated. Then, it was modeled using the Gear-Otix software and with the help of the results of the relationships of the gears, the interference conditions of the two gears were checked in this software, and finally, the stress analysis of the gear was done by using Comsol software for the appropriate state. With the help of the created model, it is possible to produce this gear using the wire-cut method.

Abstract

When there is a need to transfer power between non-parallel shafts, bevel gears are used. Bevel gears are widely used in power transmission systems such as car differentials and helicopter gearboxes, so knowing and improving the performance of this type of gear is particularly important. It is important and necessary to accurately calculate the machining time of the desired bevel gear in order to reduce time and costs. In this paper, data are collected using Taguchi's test design method in three levels. The amount of machining time was calculated for each test, then with the help of signal-to-noise analysis, the influence of the input parameters on the design of the straight tooth bevel gear on the reduction of the machining time has been investigated. The investigated parameters are conversion ratio, allowable contact stress and allowable bending stress.According to the obtained results, the conversion ratio parameter was found to be the most effective parameter on reducing the machining time. The optimal value of the conversion ratio was reported at level 1 with a value of 1.5.
