Abstract

Aims: Most of the world population who is at work and production age does not have appropriate and regular physical activity for various reasons. Accordingly, the researchers tried to evaluate the effect of physical activity predictors of employees through the path analysis based on the Pender's Health Promotion Model (HPM). Methods and Materials: We conducted this study on 359 employees of the milk and milk powder production factories in Mashhad. A questionnaire consisted of items related to the structure of the Pender's Health Promotion Model (Perceived Benefits, Perceived Barriers,  Prior Related Behavior, Perceived Self-Efficacy, Activity Related Affect, Personal Factors, Interpersonal Influences and Situational Influences) and the IPAQ standard questionnaire related to the physical activity were designed and applied in interviews as data collection instruments. Findings: One fourth of the employees had proper physical activity. Generally, structures of the Pender's Health Promotion Model predicted 34.8 % of the physical activity behavior variance. Regression analysis has shown that the predictability of Prior Related Behavior, Perceived Self-Efficacy, Personal Factors, Activity Related Affect and Interpersonal Influences are significant and Situational Influences are nearly significant. Prior Related Behavior (β = 0.45, P < 0.000) and Self-Efficacy (β = 0.17, PConclusions: The findings of the study revealed that HPM is efficient in identifying and predicting the physical activity behavior. This pattern can be used as a framework for planning and implementing educational interventions in order to improve the physical activity of the adult employees.

Abstract

Aims: As adolescents constitute around 20% of the total population and near 90% of them are living in developing countries, they need much attention. Moreover, they need to meet their raised nutritional needs because of physiological and sexual growth otherwise, they will susceptible to poor nutritional status. The ultimate goal of the present study was evaluating health literacy and eating habits of adolescent girls before and after a nutrition education program.
Materials & Methods: The intervention study was implemented on 64 adolescent girls aged between 13-15 years from two governmental girls' high school in Mashhad, Iran. Questionnaires included food frequency, health belief model (HBM), and health literacy (HL) implemented in three stages, before intervention as a pretest, immediately after intervention and two months later for reassessment.
Findings: Nutrition education intervention has considerably improved HL and eating habits of adolescent girls. After intervention HL of girls improved from 1.75±1.07 to 4.96±0.96 and their healthy nutritional behavior improved from 1.65±4.92 to 20.62±1.33. After educational interventions, all HBM constructs and awareness of girls increased significantly.
Conclusion: The results of the present study indicated that education based on health belief model positively affected students’ health literacy and nutritional behaviors.

Abstract

In recent years, the lack of a standard framework and the lack of a proper planning for the location of chain stores have caused most of these commercial locations not to be located according to defined standards; instead of scientific and knowledge-based work, it is mostly arbitrary. On the other hand, in most cases, the method of replacing stores in decision-making institutions is done with traditional methods and without scientific justification, and it is rather experimental and subjective. As a result, difficult access for customers and low sales and profitability have been among its consequences. Therefore, today, one of the reasons of the failure of chain stores is the lack of proper location in this area.
This research is descriptive in terms of purpose and applied in terms of results. In this study, the factors affecting the optimal location of chain stores were graded using interpretive structural modeling.
The geographical territory of this research is Guilan province.
Considering the importance of recognizing the effective factors in the optimal location of chain stores, in this study, first, by reviewing the literature and research background, important factors were identified based on the use of experts in the field of marketing and urban geography; out of about 45 effective factors,17 main ones were identified. In the next step, using a new analytical methodology called “interpretive structural modeling,” the relationships between the dimensions and indicators of the process are determined and analyzed in an integrated manner. The results of interpretive structural modeling showed that the indicators of demographic characteristics of the region, economic factors of customers, and market attractiveness are in the sphere of influence. These indicators have high influential power with minimal dependency which broadens an understanding of the other indicators.
This study presents a model for determining the causal relationships among the variables affecting the location of chain stores. The results of this study help investors and decision-makers in urban geography to choose the most appropriate path for the development of chain stores.
