Abstract

Translation Studies seems to have succeeded to establish itself as an area of enquiry for scholars. Patterns of flourishing this discipline with its diverse audience is not well studied, though. The present study used scientometric and bibliometric analyses to identify and assess topics and trends of Translation Studies over time, as evidence of evolution over the course of time. Documents (from 1931 to 2021) were extracted from Scopus to examine relevant indicators; document types, top journals, authors’ networks, institutes/universities, organizational support, countries and interdisciplinary contributions. In addition, VOSviewer, network and cluster density visualization and word co-occurrences were utilized to analyze and evaluate the development of the field. Trend analysis was considered at three intervals. The analyses showed that over a 90-year time span (1931-2021), 13916 documents were published by 21509 authors from 16323 institutes/universities that contributed to the scientific mobility of Translation Studies. Authors’ cooperation from 124 countries emerged in four clusters led by the US, the UK, Spain and China. In its course of development, Translation Studies witnessed a remarkable proliferation of documents since the 2000s onward. Relevant topics were shown by keywords analysis, and interrelationships of Translation Studies with other disciplines were explored. The findings offer analyses of trends and topics in Translation Studies, as evidence of scientific evolution, attested by the interdisciplinary contributions and bibliometric findings.

Abstract

Learning French as a foreign language presents unique challenges that may sometimes reduce students' motivation and academic performance. This study aimed to examine the relationship between cognitive and metacognitive strategies, mental vitality, and academic buoyancy among French language students. A mixed-method approach (quantitative and qualitative) was employed in two phases. In the quantitative phase, data were collected using standardized questionnaires on academic buoyancy, mental vitality, and cognitive and metacognitive strategies. The statistical population included all 61 French language students at Hakim Sabzevari University, who participated in the study through a census sampling method. In the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 French language professors from Iranian universities to explore their perspectives and experiences regarding academic buoyancy and its influencing factors. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods, while qualitative data were examined through inductive content analysis. The quantitative findings revealed that the use of cognitive and metacognitive strategies, along with mental vitality, positively influenced students' academic buoyancy. Furthermore, qualitative results indicated that various factors, including social variables, family, educational emotions, learner goal-setting, learning strategies, cognitive functions, communication skills, cognitive and emotional skills, academic behavioral motivators, educational content, teacher-related personal variables, teaching skills and techniques, and the teacher's motivational approach, significantly impact students' academic buoyancy.

Abstract

Subterranean termites are one of the most important pests of buildings, historic monuments and agricultural crops in some parts of Iran. Using entomopathogenic fungi as microbial insecticides is usually a part of biological control and insect pest management. The pathogenicity of entomopathogenic fungus, Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin (DEMI 001) isolated from Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Oliver) was compared against two subterranean termites, Amitermes vilis (Hagen) and Microcerotermes gabrielis (Weidner) under laboratory conditions. Suspensions of the fungus spores at five concentrations of 101, 102, 103, 104, 106 spores ml-1 were prepared to define LC50 and LT50. To determine LC50 and LT50 of M. anisopliae, bioassays were carried out on worker casts of both termite species. LC50 values for A. vilis and M. gabrielis were 8.5 × 103 and 0.2 × 102 spores ml-1, respectively. LT50 value for M. gabrielis was shorter than that of A. vilis at all five concentrations tested. According to the results of the bioassay, M. anisopliae was more effective for controlling M. gabrielis than that for A. vilis.

Abstract

Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) represent one of the most frequently occurring and costly occupational issue in nursing. The nursing profession is one of the most stressful occupations today, because of the quantity and diversity of risk factors associated with the work environment. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between burnout syndrome and musculoskeletal disorders. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study a questionnaire survey was carried out among 415 nursing personnel in five educational hospitals in Hamedan, Iran. Data were collected through two unnamed questionnaires including Maslach Burnout Inventory, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results: Statistical analysis showed that the most commonly painful regions among the nurses were lower back (5.53%), left foot (5.08%), and head and neck (4.43%), right foot (4.90%), right knee (3.84%) and left knee (3.74%). The lowest pain, were found to be in right and left elbows (1.99%) and (1.91%), respectively. Also emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment has significant correlation with musculoskeletal disorders (P = 0.000, r = 0.122). Conclusions: The results showed high prevalence of MDS among Iranian nurses that could be due to emotional exhaustion and depression.

Abstract

Researched show that backpack is the most appropriate means to be carried by the primary students every day.As the weight of these backpack may be not standard, this study aimed to evaluate the Standards associated with the primary school students’ backpack in Karun, Iran. This cross-sectional study was done on primary school students studying in Karun, Iran in 2016. In this study, a randomized multi-stage sampling method was performed by which a total of 400 students were selected. A flat scale used to measure the students’ weight and a sliding scale used to measure the students’ backpack weight Furthermore, a checklist including the questions regarding standard items of backpack was completed. Collected data and information on the checklists were analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive statistics

Abstract

Conflagration of forests and rangelands is one of the most frequent events in Iran. It is regarded as one of the most important parts of land degradation that occurred due to range destruction and desertification. This study was conducted in Boroujerd, Lorestan Province in west of Iran in 2013 to determine the fire risk model. The data prepared for the study area involved the vegetation types, land use, elevation, slope, aspect, standard topographic map and mean annual climatic data (evaporation, rainfall and temperature). Landsat ETM+ data were used for the image analysis. Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) model was applied to weigh and generate the fire risk map. Results showed that the highest weight of factors has been given to the land use because land use contribute to the maximum extent due to inflammability factor. The second highest weight was related to rainfall since it caused the biomass growth (fuel factor). Land use and rain played important roles in the modeling of fire risk zonation. The third one was attributed to the evaporation because of fuel drying and highly inflammability. The other variables comparatively had less impact on fire risk. Based on the statistics achieved for different weight classes, the map was reclassified into five classes as very low, low, moderate, high and very high in order to generate fire risk area map. Also, final map showed that most of the fires which occurred in the last year (5 fire control points about 4812.323 ha) might be put in the firing class of very high risk. Finally, about 42353.36 ha of the total area fell in the class of very high fire risk. The results indicated that 90% of burned areas were located in high risk class.

Abstract

Tensions between the Kurds and the Iraqi central government have continued throughout the country's contemporary history. The imposed geopolitics of the trans-regional powers in Iraq for more than half a century has led to violent ethnic resistance. To begin with, Iraq is an outcome of trans-regional geopolitical policy. Its leaders have always struggled to create an inclusive national identity and have used only violent means.
One of Iraq's problems for political stability and the creation of a coherent structure is the agreement with the Iraqi Kurdistan Federal Government on the disputed issues. Among these, one of the most contentious factors between the central government and the Kurds is the issues related to the disputed areas which its settlement is widely reflected in the Iraqi constitution and Security Council resolutions and a variety of solutions has been offered. This article uses a descriptive-analytical method to study and explain the territorial dispute between the Kurds and the central government of Iraq. The results of the research show that the settlement of territorial disputes is affected by geopolitical competition and the best solution to this crisis is to use a good governance model for the development and stability of those areas.

Abstract

Aim: This research has tried to study the relationship of loneliness, perceived social support, thwarted belongingness and burdensomeness with suicide among Iranian university students.
Methods: The participants of the study included a pool of 315 Iranian university students who were randomly chosen from the students studying in 2015-2016. The study design was correlational and cross-sectional. Data were collected through using four instruments: Interpersonal Needs Questionnaire (INQ), Suicidal Behavior Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R), Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale (UCLA), and Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (PSSQ). In order to analyze the data, Pearson's correlation and step-wise regression were conducted.
Findings: The findings revealed that while the males scored higher in both factors of thwarted belongingness and burdensomeness, the females possessed greater amount of loneliness and higher rate of perceived social support as compared to their male counterparts. Moreover, although no significant difference was found between marital status and suicide, single people showed more burdensomeness whereas married people felt higher amount of loneliness as well as higher perceived social support.
Conclusion: Finally, based on the results, we can conclude that interpersonal psychological theory of suicide is moderately helpful in predicting and explaining suicidal behaviors in students.

Abstract

In the Persian translations of the Holy Quran, numerous equivalents have been used for the verb “kaada” and its different forms which is a controversial issue in syntactic, interpretive and investigative works. One of these equivalents is verbal structures of the infinitive “want” that has been chosen in some of the ancient and contemporaneous translations. The present research studies the mentioned translations with a limited scope of 60 prose translations and considers whether the verb “want” is able to transmit the exact definition of “kaada” in the Holy Quran`s translations or not? Therefore, after explaining kaada`s rhetorical and syntactic features in Arabic language, it assesses the verb want features in Persian grammar and researches its rhetorical functions. Afterwards it recognizes the verses where “kaada” has been translated to want and with presenting syntactic and rhetorical reasons it explains the verb want as one of the most rational equivalents for “kaada” in Holy Quran`s translations. This research’s findings indicate that besides the main meaning of kaada it can have the meaning of willing and desiring in some verses, and the meaning of predicting, expecting and possibility in some other verses which in both cases, want in Persian language can present the same definitions and do the same functions with absolute conformation with Persian language structures.

Abstract

Research subject: Hydrodesulfurization is one of the effective methods to remove sulfur compounds from oil fractions and improve fuel quality. One of the major challenges in this process is to find the proper catalyst support that performs best. In the meantime, modified supports with zeolite have allocated a lot of attention due to their strong acidic sites, specific surface area and high hydrothermal and chemical stability; But the acidity and volume of zeolite mesopores need to be corrected.
Research approach: In this study, first, hierarchical Y zeolite was prepared using post-synthesis (Dealumination) and using ammonium form of zeolite and NH4F solution (0.75 M) at 90˚C for 3h under reflux conditions. Physicochemical properties of zeolite were investigated by BET, FESEM, FTIR, AAS and XRD analyzes. Modified zeolites were used in the support synthesis of the HDS process catalyst. The sulfidation and performance evaluation of the prepared catalysts were carried out in the fixed-bed microreactor were performed with diesel cutting feed from the Isomax unit of the target refinery.
Main results: The results show that the volume of mesopores, specific surface area and SiO2/Al2O3 ratio in hierarchical zeolites has increased 0.073 cm3 g-1, 783.36 m2 g-1 and 5.2, respectively (initial values are 0.032 cm3 g-1, 567.18 m2 g-1 and 4.5). The results of zeolite analysis show the preservation of the structure and crystallinity during the zeolite modification process. The effect of zeolite modification, especially the Si/Al ratio variations, mesopores and specific surface area, was investigated on the activity of NiMo/Zeolite+Al2O3 catalysts. Increasing the acidity and improving the physicochemical properties of the modified zeolites has increased the catalyst performance in the process of diesel hydrodesulfurization (Conversion= 90%). Improving the activity of catalysts can be attributed to the positive effect of zeolites on the dispersion of the metallic site, surface area, acidity, optimal size of pores and volume of catalyst mesopores.

Abstract

Aims: The problemology of Iran’s urban development policies is focused on the legal dimension of urban development programs in the period after the revolution “from the beginning of the 1360s to the end of the 1390s”.
Methods: For this purpose, after detailed study of the text of the approvals in the mentioned time frame, with the interpretative-analytical approach and with the help of the qualitative content analysis method, the approvals related urban design were discussed and then the content related to the development plans was extracted. A city from legal point of view was examined in these 42 resolutions.
Findings: Paying attention to the texture and historical buildings with 24.68%, paying attention the existing historical background with 18.36%, tourism in urban areas with 16.58%, and recreation and leisure axes with 15.47% were the most topics. which have been considered from legal point of view. In the meantime, attention is given “view axis” with 0.98, “walking axis” with 1.88 and “cycling axis” with 1.88, attention to “height proportions”, “human scale” and less has been written from the legal point of view in the political issues of urban planning in Iran from the beginning of the 1360s to the end of the 1390s.
Conclusion: As result, despite the existence of hundreds of legal texts that have at least one article or clause related to planning and controlling the country’s physical development, this collection has not yet been able respond to the needs today’s physical development the country and relationship between the government and the people. Determine the relationship between people and the legal framework.

Abstract

Aims: This study was carried out to determine the effects of urban gaseous pollutants (sulfur dioxide [SO2], nitrogen dioxide [NO2], and ozone [O3]) and climatic factors (temperature and precipitation) on the morphological and anatomical reaction of Platanus orientalis L. in Tehran.
Materials & Methods: Seven districts of this city with a wide spectrum of climatic conditions and diversity of elevation were selected, and gas concentration of SO2, NO2, and O3 was determined. Then, morphological and anatomical parameters of this plant including leaf area, specific leaf area (SLA), wet and dry weight, leaf toughness and thickness, water content, lamina, and main vein were measured and the analysis of their correlations with environmental (climatic and pollutant) factors along with their t-tests were evaluated.
Findings: The results showed that the climatic factors made significant (P < 0.05) changes on SLA, water content, wet and dry weight of green leaves of this plant. In addition, different levels of pollutant gases had significant (P < 0.05) effects on natural toughness, thickness, wet weight, number of spongy parenchyma layers, and the ratio of lamina mesophyll to subvein of leaves.
Conclusion: The results explain that anatomical and morphological characteristics of P. orientalis leaves have been influenced by environmental stresses and changes in these factors show the resistance of the plant to the environmental conditions.

Abstract

Abstract
Research subject: Low biodegradation rate of plastics, especially different grades of the polyethylene leads to many environmental problems. To reduce these effects, pro-oxidant added to the polyethylene to increase the photo-degradation and subsequently the bio-degradation rate of the polymer matrix. Besides the pro-oxidant, it seems that the photocatalysts can affect on the photo-degradation of the polyethylene and the subject of this study is to examine this idea.
Research approach: Photodegradable films of LDPE were prepared by melt blending of the polymer with cadmium selenide (CdSe) and trisilver phosphate (Ag3PO4) as photo-catalysts and manganese stearate as pro-oxidant. The samples were irradiated with visible and ultra-violet light. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and viscometry measurements were used to investigate the microstructure of the films.
Main results: FTIR spectra indicated to increment of the carbonyl index (CI) and vinyl index (VI) of the samples with photo-catalysts. In addition, SEM imaged confirmed higher and more homogeneous photo-degradation for these samples in comparison with other ones. Also, the dynamic-mechanical-thermal analysis showed that the polyethylene samples without the additives had higher modulus compared to other samples. However, the crystallinity of the samples with photo-catalysts increased due to nucleating agent effects of their particles. The viscosity of the samples containing the photo-catalysts and  pro-oxidants decreased significantly and the modeling results showed that this decrement  was due to the polymer chain degradation and reduction of their molecular weights. In general, the results showed that the combination of the photo-catalysts and the pro-oxidants had synergistic effect on the photo-degradation of the LDPE and accelerates its degradation process a lot more in comparison when only the pro-oxidant was used.

Abstract

Aims: Oral health is a necessity and part of general health. Due to the effects of poor oral health and untreated oral diseases on quality of life and prevalence of these diseases at school ages, this study aimed to determine the effect of oral health education using combined training on adopting dental caries preventive behaviors among elementary students.
Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, girl students at elementary schools in the town of Kootabdollah during the second semester of the academic year of 2017 were selected by multistage cluster random sampling method and they were divided in two groups of 60 students into intervention and control groups. Data collection tools included demographic and background profile questionnaire and Valid Scientific Researcher Questionnaire to assess knowledge, attitudes and behaviors in the case of dental caries prevention that at three levels: before, immediately after and two months after the intervention by students was completed. The experimental group received two training sessions in a form of combined training. Data were analyzed by SPSS 16 software using appropriate tests.
Findings: There was no significant difference between experimental and control groups before the intervention (p>0.05). But, immediately after and 2 months after the intervention, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in mean scores of knowledge, attitude, and behavioral (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Combined training can increase knowledge, change attitudes, and improve the adoption of dental caries preventive behaviors that affect oral and dental health of students.

Abstract

Aims: Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of in charge of extracellular matrix decomposition. The present research aimed at investigating the effects of 8 weeks of aerobic training on MMP plasma levels in lifeguards.
Materials & Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental one with 19 volunteer participants who were randomly assigned to either the control group (n=8) or the experimental group (n=11). The latter did aerobic exercises in water for 8 weeks at 65 to 75% of their reserved heart rate. Fasting blood samples (10cc) were collected from the brachial vein before and after the training protocol. was determined by applying ELIZA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method and the data were analyzed using SPSS 16 software. The significance level was set at p<0.05.
Findings: Results showed a significant increase in MMP-2 level in the experimental group as compared to the control group.
Conclusion: Increasing MMP levels due to 8 weeks of aerobic exercise in water may play an important role in physiological functions and tissue homeostasis. It may indicate remodeling of muscle fibers and connective tissue.

Abstract

Aims: Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) are one of the leading causes of job disability and absenteeism. Various occupational factors may increase the risk of developing WMSDs among individuals. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the Job Factors Questionnaire (JFQ) and determine the role of the occupational factors in the prevalence of WMSDs among individuals.
Method and Materials: We conducted this study in 2022 on 100 employees of an automotive industry in Kerman province in Iran. We used TheBackward-Forward to translate the questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and the Intraclass Correlation (ICC) Coefficient were used for reliability, and Content Validity Index (CVI) and Content Validity Ratio (CVR) tests were used for validity determination. To analyze the data, we used the SPSS-22. To evaluate the differences in demographic characteristics and questionnaire answers between the two groups, the T-test, and chi-square test were used.
Findings: The most WMSDs were in waist, knees, and ankles for workers and waist, neck, upper back, and shoulders for office employees. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for all individuals, workers, and office employees’ answer were 0.954, 0.955, and 0.924, respectively, and the ICC was in the range of 0.718 to 0.928. Validity was also in the acceptable range. For both groups, the occupational factor “Working in the same position for long periods” played the most significant role in the rate of WMSDs. 
Conclusion: JFQ is a proper tool for predicting and controlling WMSDs in workplaces. We can use this tool to control the physical-ergonomic problems and review ergonomic improvements made in the workplace.

Abstract

Aims: The goal of the present study was to assess the relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorder dimensions and severity with insight into an adolescent’s population.
Materials & Methods: This study was done in Iran. The study sample included 84 adolescents with OCD according to DSM-5. The participants completed materials of Obsessive Compulsive Inventory-Child Version (OCI-CV), Children Depression Questionnaire (CDQ), Children’s Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale-Severity Rating (CY-BOCS-SR), and Child Assessment of Belief Scale (CABS). Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics’ indices, Pearson correlation, separation coefficient, and multi-variant regression, using SPSS.
Findings: There was a strong positive relationship between the hoarding dimension and delusional insight. Also, severity, ordering, and doubting/checking were significantly correlated with insight, while this result disappeared by controlling the hoarding dimension via partial correlation. Moreover, adolescents with more symptoms of hoarding demonstrated a significantly higher score in OCI-CV, severity and delusional insight but not in the depression inventory.
Conclusion: Findings of the present study consistent with prior findings suggest a non-significant relationship between OCD clinical dimensions and insight in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious and communicable disease and one of the top ten causes of death throughout the world. Monitoring and evaluating TB treatment outcomes provides the required data for taking the necessary measures to control TB. Thus, this study was carried out to find determinants of treatment failure among patients with smear-positive pulmonary TB in Khuzestan province during 2006-2014
Materials & Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted over a 9-year period in Khuzestan province. Predictors of treatment failure were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression
Findings: Among 5342 patients, the cumulative incidence of unsuccessful TB treatment was 1.85%. More than half of TB patients (59.2%) enrolled in this study were male, and most of them were living in urban areas (79.8%). Significant predictors of treatment failure were age (p=·001), weight (p= ·039), number of delayed days in diagnosis (p=·01), isoniazid resistance (p≤·001), and number of bacilli in patients` sputum at the beginning of treatment (p≤·001).
Conclusion: In this study, the rate of successful treatment was quite high; nevertheless, new cases of treatment failure could be prevented with special efforts such as prompt diagnosis and precise follow-up under Direct Observation Treatment Short course (DOTS) strategy.

Abstract

In recent years a lot of researches have been carried out about sensitivity of the living organisms to magnetic fields and nanoparticles. Therefore, to evaluate the effect of the magnetic field and silver nanoparticles on photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoids), proline, glycine betaine, soluble sugars and proteins, nitrate and nitrate reductase activity and protein electrophoresis pattern on Calendula officinalis L., in 2015 experiments were performed in the Department of Biology, University of Urmia. Seedlings were grown for 30 days in four treatments including: control, magnetic field with B = 3 mT for an hour per day, silver nanoparticles (50 ppm), and magnetic field (B = 3mT) plus silver nanoparticles (50 ppm). The results showed that plants treated with magnetic field, silver nanoparticles and magnetic field + silver nanoparticles photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoids) content, compatible solutions content such as proteins and soluble sugar, proline andglycine betaine and nitrate content and nitrate reductase activity were significantly (P<0.05) increased compared to control group. Electrophoretic pattern of proteins investigated the maximum bands visible on gel electrophoresis were for treated groups with silver nanoparticles + magnetic field.
